Residents in Velt & Vecht’s area of operation who are 18 or older are able to influence our policies via the water-board elections. This allows them to select the general board. This board carries out overall governance of the water board and ensures assigned tasks are executed. Just like a local council does with the municipality. The daily executive comprises the dike warden and four committee members. The committee members are comparable to municipal councillors, while the dike warden’s function is similar to that of a mayor. The executive is responsible for the day-to-day running of the water board.
